About The Restaurant Technology Guys Podcast

Hi, I’m Jeremy Julian.
I’ve spent more than thirty years in restaurant technology. I grew up in it — my family has been in this industry my entire life. I’ve watched it evolve from paper tickets and dot-matrix printers to AI in the drive-thru, and I’ve been in operators’ back offices the whole way.
I started Restaurant Technology Guys in 2013 because the conversations operators actually needed weren’t happening anywhere else. Vendors had blogs. Trade pubs had headlines. But nobody was sitting down with operators, founders, and technologists and asking the real questions — the ones that change how a brand runs.
Three hundred-plus episodes later, that’s still the show.
What you’ll find here
Every week we publish a conversation with someone shaping where restaurant technology is going. POS, payments, AI, off-premise, loyalty, labor, franchise ops — if it touches a multi-unit operator’s business, we cover it.
You’ll also find RTG Insights — my solo series breaking down what’s actually happening in restaurant tech and what operators should do about it. No vendor spin.

Why I do this
I love this industry. Restaurants are some of the toughest businesses on earth, and the operators running them deserve better information than they’re getting. Most of what passes for “restaurant tech content” is either a sales pitch dressed up as advice or a trade press headline with no real depth.
That’s not what we do here.
We have competitors and partners on the same show. We push back when we disagree. We bring on operators who’ve made expensive mistakes so the next person doesn’t have to. The goal is to leave you smarter than you were thirty minutes ago.
My day job
When I’m not behind the mic, I’m President & CRO at CBS NorthStar, where I help multi-unit restaurant brands implement the kind of technology this podcast talks about. Same work — just one operator at a time instead of a microphone.
The podcast is its own thing. I keep it that way on purpose.
